The Old Trail Course is a regulation 3.2 mile cross country course for the Western Albemarle Cross Country teams. It is open to the public for use at all times except during competition events.
Donated by Beights Corporation, the course begins in Western Park, adjacent to Old Trail Drive. The loop follows the fence line and Licking Hole Creek, continues up behind Henley Middle School crosses Old Trail Drive to pick up the nature trail, then continues past the pond at the Golf Course before crossing Golf Drive to follow the treeline and connect back to the beginning.
The Course was built with funding from the Friends of Western Albemarle Cross Country, Track and Field. This 501(c)3 group exists to support the track and cross country programs at WAHS, which is a public high school.
Collins Engineering donated design services for the Course. Old Trail Turf Care donated time and materials to build the course, augmenting existing trails in the community.
