Regarding the Crozet Park Aquatics and Recreation Center (PARC): (posted from email sent by Tim Tolson of the CCAC)

Holiday Greetings to the Friends of Crozet Park!

We have exciting news to share regarding the Crozet PARC (Park Aquatics and Recreation Center).

We are in the FINAL stages of approval and fundraising and if all goes as planned we will start construction in early February with a completion date of May, 2012!  Our Architectural and Building Committee has been working diligently and are “ready to build”.  The PARC has raised the community match thanks to all our community friends.

The Park Board made a major improvement by re-plastering the pool last spring, and we need to rebuild that account, so the Park match of $200,000 is solid. In mid December we were given another $10,000 gift with another $10,000 match IF we can raise the remaining 20,000 shortfall by the end of the year.

We have received $11,000 in pledges and donations in the last few days, so we are now only $9,000 shy.   Right before Christmas, we received a $10,000 pledge, which will be received if we raise this last $9000 before the end of the year.

That’s right, we’ll receive the $10,000 match grant, giving us a total of $40,000 raised in December and covering the shortfall due to the re-plastering of the pool.

If you are considering any end of the year giving opportunities please consider the Park… it adds up fast and will give us the security we need to make this project successful along with a $10,000 match gift.  All donations and pledges (yes, pledges will count toward making our match gift so you can pledge now and pay later; but  we need to receive something in writing or a donation dated for this year) can be sent to:

Crozet PARC
PO Box 171
Crozet, VA 22932

Again thank you for all your support in making this project a reality.  Crozet Park will have the first year round aquatics and recreation facility open to the public in the County thanks to the Crozet community and its passion to see things happen!   Look for more information in the weeks to come.  If you have any questions, please contact Cynthia at cvelles@embarqmail.com

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season,

Crozet PARC

12 Noon-4pm
Old Trail Village Center, Crozet, VA

The famous and iconic Oscar Mayer “Wienermobile” will visit Crozet, Virginia, stopping at the Old Trail Village Center Tuesday, December 20th, from Noon-4pm.  In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Wienermobile, Oscar Mayer held a contest on Facebook asking for people to vote for their towns to win a visit.  Crozet was one of just 75 locations chosen for this anniversary tour.

The Wienermobile will setup in the Old Trail Village Center parking lot, located just off I64 Exit 107 (http://oldtrailvillagecenter.com/map.htm).  Everyone is invited to come tour the Wienermobile, receive coupons and iconic wiener-whistles, and have their picture taken for free, which may be accessed later via the web.  Children can also enjoy Wienermobile coloring sheets and all are invited to address special Wienermobile-themed postcards to family and friends.

In addition to the Wienermobile’s usual fun festivities, the event will also serve as a collection point for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (http://www.brafb.org/).  Feel free to bring non-perishable food items for the area’s largest food bank.  A list of most-needed items is online: http://www.brafb.org/GetInvolved/Host%20A%20Food%20Drive/Most%20Needed%20Items.aspx .

For more information, contact Andrea McNeill, Andrea@OldTrailVillage.com or visit the Old Trail Village website.  The “Hotdoggers” of the Wienermobile are online via Twitter:  @Wienermobile and at www.HotDoggerBlog.com.

Old Trail Village, a mixed-use development located in western Albemarle County, Virginia, has exceeded its 2010 sales record with year-to-date sales of $30.83M. Total sales volume for 2010 was $30.55M with 77 total units sold/under contract. Currently with 72 residential units sold, under contract, or pending, Old Trail Village is continuing as the leader of the new construction market in the greater Charlottesville MSA.

Old Trail Village is on-trend to meet or exceed last year’s sales figures in every category of significance. Currently, the Median and Average Sale Prices for Old Trail Village are higher than in 2010. The current Median Sales Price is $370,892 ($364,900 in 2010); the current Average Sale Price is $428,240 ($396,690 last year). New construction continues to comprise the bulk of residential sales; so far this year 61 of the 72 units sold/under contract are new construction. Last year, 64 of the 77 units placed under contract were new construction.

Of Old Trail Village’s success, Developer Justin Beights stated, “We are grateful to have had our second record-breaking year in a row. Sales have been great and we are pleased with the progress of construction from our builders. We have new phases of construction underway already, creating opportunities for an even more successful 2012.”

With over 300 occupied residences, Old Trail Village offers a wide-range of price points and housing types - a major factor in the development’s success in a challenging real estate market. From affordable apartments and town homes to single-family detached starter homes and large estate homes, the range of price points and styles available for purchase serves and encourages the growth of a diverse population. The amenities of Old Trail Village, including the commercial Village Center, support the thriving community of neighbors.
