Today’s break from a stretch of frigid temps allowed finish plumbing work to begin in earnest at the Old Trail Village Center today in the commercial tenant spaces. The plumbers (and soon, other sub-contractors) have arrived as a part of the “white box” phase of the construction process. The “white box” is what is delivered to the commercial tenants of the Village Center, allowing them to proceed with their custom finishing and construction.
The Village Center is on-track to open in early spring of this year.

Old Trail Village residents are seeking to organize a western Albemarle youth soccer group for children ages 3 1/2 - 5 (children beginning kindergarten in 2009 OR 2010). Not intended to compete with the terrific SOCA organization, this is an informal group for young people to begin learning the wonderful sport and camaraderie of soccer.
The organizers are tentatively planning a schedule of “practices” once per week, Saturday mornings, from March through May/June (depending upon interest). The soccer group will meet and practice at the Western Park field, located in Old Trail Village.
Practices will consist of 30 minutes for group activity (drills, running), with 15 minutes or so dedicated for “matches”. If enough children participate, there will be opportunity to divide into “teams” for a loose scrimmage. The organizers are also looking for support with “coaching” from 3 or more other parents.
Interested families should contact Julie at jbergert@gmail.com for more information or to participate.
